October 2009
What?
On Saturday 10th October myself and my mate Mat are headed north on the train to start a bike ride that took us from the Irish Sea at Whitehaven, across the Lake District and the Pennines to the North Sea at Sunderland. It was supposed to be a distance of about 140 miles but we managed to add to that by repeatedly getting lost.
Where?
You can take a gander at the route here http://www.sustrans.org.uk/assets/files/route%20overviews/C2C.pdf
I also wrote a big, long, diary-like post about the whole trip which you can read HERE.
Why?
Hopefully along the way I’ll be able to raise a few £s for the Jane Tomlinson Appeal. If you feel so inclined you can donate via my justgiving page:www.justgiving.com/ashley-mann
Here are some photos:
The start at Whitehaven, not quite sure what the poses are all about…

The sunny Lake District

The top of Hartside, after getting lost and cold and hungry and tired

Mat had to resort to making his own gloves from gaffa tape

For some reason this was at the top of Crawleyside Bank

Mark and I, finishing at Sunderland (riding on sand is weird)

Awesome blogging sir!
